As the Senate weighs the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” Binder will walk us through the key political dynamics shaping the bill, what it will take to pass such a sweeping package, how institutional gridlock may interfere, and what it will take to actually pass.
John,
Join us on Monday, June 16, at 4:00 PM ET for an exclusive No Labels briefing with Brookings scholar Sarah Binder, one of the country’s leading experts on Congress and legislative politics.
As the Senate weighs the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” Binder will walk us through the key political dynamics shaping the bill, what it will take to pass such a sweeping package, how institutional gridlock may interfere, and what it will take to actually pass.
Binder is a Senior Fellow in Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution and a professor of political science at George Washington University. Her award-winning books on congressional partisanship, legislative gridlock, and the balance of power between Congress and the Federal Reserve have made her a go-to voice for understanding how Congress functions, and when it does not. She is also a contributor to Good Authority and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
At a time when every vote in Congress counts and major policy decisions hang in the balance, this conversation will provide sharp, nonpartisan insight into how and whether this enormous legislation can move forward.
