What is #8CantWait ([link removed]) ? It's a nationwide project by Campaign Zero ([link removed]) that is seeking immediate change to police departments everywhere. There are eight policies they're encouraging all city police departments to adopt in order to reduce killings by police and save lives — and the New Orleans Police Department has officially adopted all eight of these critical policies.

The eight policies that NOPD is committed to adopting and enforcing are:
* Ban chokeholds and strangleholds
* Require De-Escalation
* Duty to Intervene
* Ban Shooting at Moving Vehicles
* Establish Use of Force Continuum
* Require All Use of Force to Be Reported
* Exhaust All Alternatives Before Shooting
* Require Warning Before Shooting

We embrace the need for reform, and we agree these changes can't wait — but there's more our city can do. If you see misconduct, or even something done well, it's our responsibility to hold police accountable by reporting it or reinforcing positive behavior.
