John,

It’s been just 48 hours since we launched [ [link removed] ]Unbreaking America: Justice
For Sale, and already everybody from Michael Douglas to Ed Helms, Sia, Amy
Schumer, and more have watched, shared, and joined the movement to fix our
broken political system.

[ [link removed] ]Now it’s your turn. If you haven’t already, please watch this short
film and share it with your friends. It’s an important addition to the
conversation taking place across the country as we reckon with our mass
incarceration problem and the profound impact it has on millions of
Americans.

People across America are finally waking up to the reality that our
political system is rigged to maintain a corrupt status quo, and that
corruption impacts every issue you care about – from criminal justice to
education to the economy.

Now, we need to make sure everyone knows that we have a winning plan to
unrig the system. These past few weeks have shown that it takes a movement
to win.

Studies show that when just 3.5% of a population gets actively involved in
fighting for change, they win.^1 Every single time. In the U.S., that’s 11
million people. [ [link removed] ]That’s why it’s so important that we share Justice For
Sale far and wide to bring as many people into this fight as possible.

RepresentUs members are working hard to pass 17 anti-corruption laws
across the country this election season, and we’ll only win if we activate
as many Americans as possible. Are you in?

Conflict

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

John,

We've both seen the failure of America’s criminal justice system
first-hand. Desmond was in prison for 3 years, and Omar grew up with the
system stacked against his Brooklyn community.

We now know that lobbyists and special interests have worked together for
decades to keep our criminal justice system broken. They pressure
politicians for harsher sentences, they push to keep our jails filled, and
they even get tax kickbacks for using inmates as free labor.

[ [link removed] ]Today, we’re proud to launch Unbreaking America: Justice For Sale, an
8-minute short film that exposes the outrageous connection between the
prison industry and our corrupt political system.

Look, the fact of the matter is this: We have to end corruption in
politics if we want to see commonsense, bipartisan reforms on the issues
that matter most.

91% of Americans already agree that the criminal justice system isn’t
working and needs serious fixes, but the politicians who have the power to
change it have been slow to act. That’s because they're beholden to the
special interests that fund their campaigns – not the voters.

Justice For Sale reveals the stark failings of America's justice system,
and shows how it’s inextricably linked to our corrupt politics. It’s an
important piece of the national conversation happening across America
right now.

We made this short film because we believe that the time has come to stop
corruption and give power back to the voters. We're asking that you do two
things to help: [ [link removed] ]First, watch Justice For Sale – then, share the film to
bring more people into this movement.

Thank you for being part of this movement with us.
