Today, more than half a million Americans are taking to the streets at 2,000+ No Kings Day protests in defiance of Donald Trump's escalating authoritarianism.

This day of massive protest unfolds as Trump deploys the military to the streets of Los Angeles against U.S. citizens. As he criminalizes protest and handcuffs and arrests his political opponents. As he celebrates himself with a $45 million military parade fit for a dictator.

It is not an exaggeration to say that right now, our democracy hangs in the balance. And together, we are going to fight for it.

Today, Our Revolution activists organized dozens of events across the country, sending a clear message to Trump that he is not above the law and not above democracy. But as Trump doubles down, so must we. This HAS to be just the beginning of our resistance.

There’s no denying that this is a terrifying time, James. Because as Our Revolution Executive Director Joseph Geevarghese warned this week in an op-ed, authoritarianism isn't coming -- it’s here.

And as today’s massive nationwide resistance proves, it’s everyday people like all of us who are rising up to defend communities that have been abandoned. It’s the PEOPLE who are going to save us.

Because the unfortunate fact is that as Trump brazenly transforms our nation into his personal police state, the Democratic establishment has proven unwilling or unable to rise to the moment. As Joseph said:

“We know we cannot count on the same institutions that have ignored or dismissed the very communities now under threat. We are turning to the people—to the organizers, the movement-builders, the working class—to rise up and defend what remains of our democracy.”

Together, we are stepping up to fill the void and lead by example. But to be able to stand up to Trump’s tyranny, this movement must continue beyond today, growing stronger, louder, and more resilient.
