Hi, it’s Congresswoman Sarah McBride.

When I was growing up, I couldn’t imagine a future like mine. I worried that the heart of this country wasn’t big enough to love someone like me.

But over the years, I’ve witnessed change that once felt unimaginable — and because of voters in my home state of Delaware and supporters across the country, I became the first openly transgender member elected to Congress last November.

I’m carrying that with me this Pride Month.

Because Pride teaches us that hope matters most when it’s hard.

Right now, it’s a frightening time for so many in our country. LGBTQ+ people, especially trans youth, are being targeted with cruelty — online, in our communities, and by politicians in Congress. I know how easy it is to feel discouraged. I’ve felt it too.

But we must remember that Pride was born at Stonewall in resistance, in protest, and in the belief that even in the face of fear, change is still possible.

That’s why it’s more important than ever to fight for what’s right. To stay rooted in our values and our vision. And just as importantly, to keep believing that through the power of our proximity, we can bring more people along.

But we won’t get there alone. It’s going to take all of us building a movement strong enough to meet this moment and carry us forward. So if you’re ready to do your part, please split a $5 donation between my campaign and The Long Run PAC now.

I know a better tomorrow is possible if we put in the work.

In solidarity and Happy Pride,

Sarah
