While President Trump and his advisors would like us to believe that “there’s no second wave” of COVID-19, we know that this pandemic is far from over.
The Senate has had five months to pass legislation needed to finally protect nurses on the frontlines – and we’re done waiting. Last week, National Nurses United’s Executive Director, Bonnie Castillo, RN testified before Congress on the crisis nurses are facing and what protections they need to safely do their jobs.
These necessary protections include passing an emergency temporary OSHA standard and mandating the President use the Defense Production Act to ramp up mass production of the PPE we still so desperately need.
We need you to take just a minute to sign your name because every single signature shows Senators that their constituents care about this issue.
Some Senators more concerned with reopening states as quickly as possible are hoping that they’re off the hook. We need a huge showing of pressure right now to make sure that every Senator – especially Mitch McConnell – knows that protections for nurses are non-negotiable. Inaction is immoral, and more nurses will die if the Senate refuses to act.
The House passed the HEROES Act, which includes these two key provisions required to protect nurses. We must demand the same from the Senate now. Nurses cannot wait.
We’re still putting our lives on the line everyday treating COVID-19 patients without the proper protections. The more of us who get infected, the more our patients’ lives are at risk — the more we’re ALL at risk.
This petition is critical to demanding the protections we need once and for all. Our team is in D.C. meeting with Congressional staff and they need to be able to show the outpouring of support from nurses, other frontline workers, and allies everywhere who demand these protections are passed into law.
Every signature counts.

P.S. Please watch and share Bonnie’s testimony to Congress here to help amplify our message and protect nurses.
