We can’t wait to see you at the NO KINGS March and Rally. Our entire leadership and security team, and all of our volunteers, are working hard to ensure a safe, peaceful, nonviolent event. We will begin at 11:30 AM at Dolores Park. We will march at noon via Dolores Street, Market Street, Van Ness Ave, and Grove Street, and we will rally at Civic Center at 1 PM.

You may have seen messaging that Bay Resistance and Mission Action are holding an emergency mobilization at 478 Tehama at 7 AM. This is a legitimate action. Mission Action and Bay Resistance will be leading on it. It will be a peaceful, nonviolent action. See below for details. However keep in mind that the risk of arrest is heightened at the 7 AM mobilization, since it is an ICE office. Our security team, police liaisons and volunteers from Indivisible SF and 50501SF will not be able to attend as we are preparing for NO KINGS.

In the meantime, the NO KINGS Mobilization is still going on as planned. Our entire leadership and security team, and all of our volunteers, will be at NO KINGS to ensure a safe, peaceful, nonviolent event. We will begin at 11:30 at Dolores Park as planned.

Details on the 7 AM Tehama mobilization: Many immigrants - in the legal immigration process - have received notice to appear at the ICE office at 478 Tehama on Saturday, June 14 between 8 AM and 4 PM. It is highly unusual for ICE to operate on Saturdays and our partners believe this is a trap to detain and deport them. They are mobilizing our immigrant rights communities to hold a rally at the 478 Tehama ICE office to hopefully force it to close for the day, so that they can help them go to their ICE check ins without fear of detention.

Details on No Kings:

Safety and Nonviolence

This is a peaceful, nonviolent march and rally. Please help keep it that way in your actions throughout the event.

We will see high police presence during this event. You are safe. We have permits, and the City is informed of our event. As long as the event remains orderly, the police will not interfere.

Do not engage in any way with the police. Do not speak to them, wave anything at them, display any body language, and do not approach them. Pretend they are not there.

If a police officer approaches you with a question, say “Please speak to the police liaison”. Otherwise, fall upon police know-your-rights

We may see agitators who want to start and film verbal confrontations. The best way you can thwart them is to ignore them. Don’t talk to them, yell at them, or anything else. Leave any engagement to our friendly safety monitors in yellow hi-vis vests.

NEVER SIT DOWN AT A PROTEST MARCH OR RALLY. There have been some social media posts going around suggesting for nonviolent protesters to sit down in case of trouble. This is very dangerous—it limits your mobility and leaves you vulnerable to being tripped or stepped on. Don’t be a sitting duck. If you encounter anything that looks or feels unsafe, walk quickly, do not run, away from the area.

We are not anticipating any situations that exceed the regular risk of a nonviolent, peaceful protest. However, the risk of arrest at a protest is never zero, so if you absolutely cannot be arrested for any reason including immigration, do not come to the area. That includes Dolores Park, Dolores St from 19th to Market, Market St from Dolores to Civic Center Plaza, and the Plaza itself.

National Lawyers Guild SF has been apprised of the event. The hotline you should have on your person (on paper or written on your forearm) is (415) 285-1011.

You may consider going with a buddy or a group, and making sure to leave the event with that buddy or group. If you feel unsafe leaving, please find an event monitor in a yellow vest near the stage after dispersal and ask them for help.

There will be photography at this event, from friendly pro-bono photographers, press, and individuals. Your face may be photographed without your consent. Please be aware of this if you cannot be photographed.

Restrooms

Restroom access is limited at this event. We strongly encourage you to use the restroom before you arrive at the event, or step off the march route to use the bathroom at a business.

Dolores Park has public restrooms at the northwest corner of the park (near the J-Church stop) and at the southeast corner.

Restrooms near Civic Center Plaza include:
  • The Main Library
  • Public toilet at Grove and Larkin, across from the Library (note: long self-cleaning cycles between users, so expect a wait)
  • Public Works Pit Stop in Fulton Plaza, near Hyde

The following restrooms are unavailable for our purposes:

- The Asian Art Museum (generally requires a ticket)
- City Hall (closed weekends, and would require going through security even if it were open)

We strongly encourage you to use the restroom before you head out.

For those who will be at the human banner event at Ocean Beach in the morning, there is a Public Works pit stop at Ocean Beach, so if you’re coming from there, you can use that before catching your bus.

Parking

Several parking garages will be available on Saturday. However, we are expecting a large attendance, so if you can take public transit, we recommend you do that.

There are several parking lots and garages in the Mission, particularly between 16th and Mission and Dolores Park.

For the rally, Civic Center Garage will be open and available. However, you should arrive early, well before the march arrives—no later than 12:30. Enter the garage from McAllister or Larkin. (https://www.sfmta.com/garages-lots/civic-center-garage)

UC Law SF parking garage will be open and available, and is only a block away. (https://sites.uclawsf.edu/garage/)

Weather

It is forecast to be cool and windy with some sun tomorrow.

We strongly encourage you to bring a shade hat, sunscreen, water, and comfortable shoes. Wear your hat and sunscreen to prevent sunburn, and drink your water to prevent dehydration. You’ll enjoy the event much more that way.

If you’re coming from the beach, it will be much colder at Ocean Beach in the morning than at Dolores Park and Civic Center Plaza, so the layers we’re all used to wearing will be that much more important.

Signs

We will have pre-printed “NO KINGS” signs. We will also have small hand flags to reclaim the American flag as a symbol of the equitable, democratic country we strive to be. These are free to take and keep. If you choose not to keep it, please give it away, return your sign/flag to the Indivisible SF table for somebody else to have, or recycle your sign and donate your flag to a thrift shop.

ADA/Wheelchair Seating

If you are limited in mobility or don’t want to march, please come directly to Civic Center Plaza by 12:45 PM. We do recommend arriving earlier than later so you can get there ahead of the marchers.

We will have 20 chairs available for people who need to sit down during the rally, arranged in front of the stage and all marked “ADA”. If you don’t think you can stand for the whole rally, please feel free to take one of the seats. They are first come first serve, so we recommend you bring a wheelchair or folding stool, if you have one, in case the seats are all taken.

Please do not stand in the area to either side of the ADA seating. These areas are reserved for wheelchair users and for other people to get to and from the seats.

Food

If you’re at Ocean Beach, TJ Cafe at Balboa and La Playa is a good option. Note that getting food in between being in the human banner and hopping on the bus might mean you’ll have to miss the march and go directly to Civic Center. The timing will be tight, as described below.

If you’re going to Dolores Park, there is the Dolores Park Cafe at 18th and Dolores and there are numerous other options in the Mission and the Castro.

If you’re heading straight to Civic Center, there are several good food options in the area, including Max’s at the Opera in Opera Plaza, Ike’s Love and Sandwiches at Polk and O’Farrell (one block east of Tesla), and more. Opera Plaza has limited picnic seating, and there are benches outside the hospital at Van Ness and Geary.

If you’re going to the Human Banner at Ocean Beach

Some of you are also going to the human banner event at Ocean Beach on Saturday morning. This part is for you. (https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/796488/?rname=Indivisible+SF)

The human banner will take place near the north end of the beach, near Safeway at Cabrillo and La Playa. There is a Public Works pit stop (public toilet) near there. We encourage you to use it before you leave for Civic Center.

The Muni routes from there are the 5-Fulton and 31-Balboa.
  • If you want to go to Dolores Park, take a 5 and transfer at Arguello to a 33.
  • If you’re skipping the march, the 5 is the more direct route to Civic Center. The 31 will also get you there, but requires a bit of walking downhill to the Plaza. On either route, get off at Van Ness.

Note that they have different departing stops: The 5 leaves south along La Playa, whereas the 31 leaves east on Cabrillo. Please look both ways before crossing the street to catch your bus.

Take the earliest bus you can, but please don’t overpack the bus. People who leave at 11–11:15 AM or so will get to Dolores Park early enough to join the march. People leaving later may want to head directly to Civic Center Plaza.

BEFORE YOU GO: You may want to use the Public Works pit stop just off the beach near Cabrillo. Note that there are also restrooms at Dolores Park and Civic Center Plaza so if you have to abandon the Pit Stop line to catch your bus, do that.

If you’re planning to go to Tesla

The protest that normally happens every Saturday at noon outside the Tesla dealership at 999 Van Ness (at O’Farrell) is called off for tomorrow—the organizer has asked people to come to our rally instead.

Note that the rally starts one hour later, so you could use that hour to get lunch before heading to the Plaza.

Find your People

At the rally, in addition to our excellent guest speakers, we’ll also have a variety of organizations with tables you can visit to learn more about them. We encourage you to check out these organizations and look for ways you can get involved.

It will take all of us to resist the Trump regime. Joining a protest is a start—where will your activism continue from here? We invite you to consider that question as you listen to the speakers and peruse the tables.

Thank you for coming!

We deeply appreciate you choosing to spend your Saturday morning and/or afternoon in an act of resistance. Thank you.

We will get through this by working together, looking out for each other, taking our rest when we need it, and not ever stopping.

This event is being put on by an all-volunteer team from Indivisible SF and 50501 SF, and we are footing all the costs, including permits, sound system, stage setup, and more, out-of-pocket. If you are interested in helping to offset our costs, Indivisible SF and 50501 SF are accepting donations via 50501 SF’s GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-50501-san-francisco-stand-up-for-our-rights/cl/o

Keep Fighting,

The Indivisible SF Team
