On Monday this week, we got some great news: The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) ruled that federal employment discrimination laws also protect LGBTQ employees.

This ruling is an affirmation of civil rights. Our country has established that being LGBTQ- being who you are— is not a fireable offense.

I was thrilled to hear of this decision. I am proud to be endorsed by One Colorado, the leading LGBTQ advocacy organization in Colorado.

This decision is cause for celebration—but our work isn’t done yet. In 2021, when we’ve elected the 117th Congress, we must ensure that the Equality Act passes, which would add sexual orientation and gender identity to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and prevent further discrimination in housing, education, public services, and more.

Unfortunately, Mitch McConnell and his friends in the House–including CD3’s very own Scott Tipton—have stopped all movement on this important bill. It’s critical that we vote Tipton out—he’s been on the wrong side of history for far too long.
