Hello, it’s Congressman John Mannion.

We are not even 6 months into the second Trump Administration, and they are already arresting and assaulting Democratic legislators to quell dissent. We saw this with my colleague Representative LaMonica McIver and just recently with my friend, Senator Alex Padilla.

I am not going to sit by and let the country I love, and the country so many have fought for, fall to the tyranny of Trumpism.

So I spoke out. I told cowardly Republicans in Congress to stand up for our republic which is teetering on the edge of authoritarianism. And Mike Lawler told me to “f*ck off.”

Needless to say, I will not be doing that, and I will not stop fighting for our democracy.

Some of my colleagues are angry that I broke decorum. That I fought for our democracy. That I am willing to draw a line in the sand to stop fascism.

I care too much to stay silent. It’s time more people - regardless of party - stand up for our democracy.
