Dear Neighbor,

This week, we witnessed a terrifying escalation.

After deploying the military onto the streets of Los Angeles, the Trump administration has now gone even further as we saw federal agents assault our senior U.S. Senator from California for doing his job to hold the administration accountable.

Senator Alex Padilla was at a press conference where Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was speaking about the ICE raids that have terrified and upended our communities. Senator Padilla tried to question Secretary Noem about these raids - when federal agents violently shoved him, forced him to the ground, and handcuffed him.

Immigrants in our communities, many with no criminal record, continue to be targeted in aggressive ICE raids. The National Guard and Marines are patrolling our neighborhoods against the wishes of our governor. This is unacceptable.

I’ve spoken out every single day—because silence is not an option.

Sincerely,

Rep. Nanette Barragán
