# [#]John – Trump is quickly crossing the Rubicon into dictatorship. Yesterday, my colleague Senator Alex Padilla was thrown to the ground, handcuffed and detained by federal agents at Homeland Security Secretary Noem’s press conference. He had identified himself as a U.S. Senator and was simply trying to ask a question – which is his job.

To say this is outrageous would be an understatement. Minutes after this debacle, I joined Democratic colleagues on the steps of the Capitol to protest this fascist thuggery and send a clear message to Trump: we stand firmly with Senator Padilla, and we’re fighting back against this descent into dictatorship.

We’ve got to be clear about this: Trump’s lawlessness, corruption, militarism and endless attempts to bully, intimidate and destroy his political opponents have all the hallmarks of an authoritarian takeover. Don’t kid yourself – if Trump and his cronies will have a sitting U.S. Senator publicly manhandled, handcuffed and detained just for trying to do his job, they’ll do the same to anyone .

They’re showing us exactly who they are. Just 5 months into this presidency, 42% of Project 2025 has already been implemented, and they aren’t slowing down. For anyone who is still waiting for Republicans to do the right thing and call out this madness, I’m here to tell you: it’s not going to happen. This is up to us.

Donald Trump and his army of goons are going to do everything they said they would do, and more, until we stop them. Thankfully, good people all over this country are opening their eyes to this reality, standing up, and peacefully fighting back.

I’m asking you – begging you – to join this critical patriotic movement. Make your voice heard and fight like our democracy and our freedom depends on it, because it does.
