Dear John,
Juneteenth this weekend will be one of the biggest days of protest in American history. Then, on Tuesday, we have the opportunity to keep up the momentum and elect two visionary Black leaders: Jamaal Bowman, running for Congress in New York, and Charles Booker, running for US Senate to take on Mitch McConnell.
Join Sunrise, Working Families Party, Charles, and Jamaal on Sunday at 8pm EDT / 5pm PDT for the final mass call of their campaigns to cap off this historic weekend and share plans to go all out in the last two days before the election.
They’re not being called the ‘next AOCs’ for nothing—Jamaal and Charles are frontline leaders who have put forward a striking vision for where we need to go as a country. If we elect them to Congress this year, they will be some of the most powerful champions for the Green New Deal and for racial and economic justice we’ve ever had in Washington.
A month ago, their opponents and the establishment wrote off Charles and Jamaal, but now polls are showing a neck-and-neck race.¹ Their opponents and corporate donors are now running scared and flooding the airwaves with millions of dollars in racist attack ads to try to slow down their momentum.²
Charles and Jamaal rose as contenders through grassroots campaigning—everyday people making calls to voters or chipping in a couple bucks—and that’s the way we’re going to overcome this onslaught of last minute attacks and send these visionary leaders to Congress.
On Sunday evening Sunrise organizers on the ground will join Charles, Jamaal, and Nelini Stamp with the Working Families Party to share the status of the race and how we all can help in the final stretch.
You don’t want to miss this call. Sign up here.
Let’s keep that Juneteenth energy rolling through Tuesday to support these phenomenal candidates in the crucial final days of their primary campaigns.
See you Sunday,
Varshini
PS. You don’t have to wait for the call to take action. We’ve been calling record numbers of voters through phone banks and we need your help to reach as many more as possible before people cast their votes on Tuesday. Click here to sign up for a phone bank shift.
