He wants a parade.
He wants tanks in the streets. Soldiers marching. Helicopters in the sky. Fifty of them. Helicopters will rattle in the sky.  Boots will pound the pavement.

The sounds of money wasted.  The sound of freedom mocked.  But it is Trump’s birthday and he wants the cameras rolling. He wants the world to see.

June 14 is also  Flag Day. It is the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army.
But make no mistake. This is no celebration of country. No honoring of soldiers. No day of the people.

The military parade in Washington, D.C. is a $45 million spectacle staged for one man—Donald Trump—a wanna be king.  A show of force by an authoritarian who would strip away our rights, our freedoms, our very lives.

Look at what he has done.

Look at what he promises to do.

Trump would tear away a woman’s right to abortion.  He would gut Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP and Social Security—programs that women of all ages rely on.  He would unleash new attacks on birth control, IVF, and LGBTQ+ rights.  He would flood our courts with judges hostile to women, hostile to freedom, hostile to democracy itself.

As feminists, as voters, as Americans—we stand for freedom.  We stand for equality.  And we will not bow to any would-be king.

This is not a king’s country.

And we are not his subjects.

That is why on June 14, in cities and towns across the nation, we will rise.
We will gather. We will stand. We will show what democracy looks like.

No thrones. No crowns. No kings.

INDIVISIBLE  and partners have called for this No Kings National Day of Defiance. There will be more than 1,000 protests—big cities, small towns, courthouse steps, parks, streets where we live.  And all across the country members of the Feminist Majority community are joining in.

We will not march for Trump. We will not feed his ego. We will not be ruled.  We will raise hell.

If we stay silent, we surrender.  We will not surrender.  We will rise.
