Today is a victory for our Dreamers as the Supreme Court ruled the Trump administration illegally ended the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. This ruling upholds protections for almost 700,000 Dreamers; a win for DACA recipients and their families.

The Trump administration's decision to rescind the DACA program was motivated by malice and its ongoing discrimination against immigrants. In the words of Justice Sotomayor from today's decision:

"Taken together, 'the words of the President' help to 'create the strong perception' that the recission decision was 'contaminated by impermissible discriminatory animus.'"

I've met with many Dreamers throughout Connecticut and they are a remarkable group of young people worthy of our protection, consistent with the values of our country. Today's ruling is a win for our economy, our legacy and the decency we need to return to as a nation.
