Comrade,

As protests against racial injustice continue around the U.S. and across the world, the Movement for Black Lives is calling for a mass mobilization in D.C. on Juneteenth (tomorrow). The demands for political leaders are simple: defund the police and invest in Black communities.

Our DSA chapter is showing up to this call by organizing a march — which will coincide with other, simultaneous marches in D.C. — that will take place tomorrow evening. Can you join us?

Full details about the march are below:

  • When: TOMORROW, Friday, June 19, 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm

  • Where: Meet at Hancock Park at 800 C St SW, Washington, DC 20024

  • Why: As a response to the call for actions throughout D.C. from the Movement for Black Lives and Black Lives Matter D.C.

  • What: We'll meet at Hancock Park (7th St and C St SW) near the L'Enfant Plaza Metro station at 5:00 pm. At 5:30 pm, we'll begin marching from Hancock to Black Lives Matter Plaza in front of the White House. Other marches will converge on the White House at the same time.

  • Rain Plan: This event will occur rain or shine, but will be cancelled in the event of thunderstorms.

  • What to Bring/Wear: Comfortable shoes, water bottle, protest signs, umbrella and/or raincoat.

  • Event Pages: Facebook; Sixnineteen

If you would like to attend this event, please RSVP either on Facebook or Sixnineteen.org. While a sign-up is not required to attend, these pages will contain any updated information if event plans change (e.g. due to weather).

If you have questions about this event, or would like to volunteer in some capacity during the event, please email [email protected].

Solidarity,

Steering Committee, Metro D.C. DSA
