No father should be kept from his child because of their political speech.
ACLU Supporter, this Sunday is Father's Day – and at the time we're writing this email, rather than preparing to celebrate his first Father's Day with his newborn son and wife, Mahmoud Khalil is sitting 1,500 miles away from his wife and newborn, wrongfully held in ICE detention in retaliation for his advocacy for Palestine.
A judge ruled this week that his detention is unconstitutional. The deadline for the government to appeal has come and gone and Mahmoud Khalil must be released immediately. Anything further is an attempt to prolong his unconstitutional, arbitrary, and cruel detention.
In the three months that he has been detained, Mahmoud Khalil has been forced to miss the birth of his son and his wife's first Mother's Day – and now, the government must release him before he’s forced to miss his own first Father's Day as well. All for exercising his First Amendment rights.
To mark this moment, we invited a few fellow fathers to help us share Mahmoud’s letter to his son, Deen. <[link removed]>
No person should ever be detained for their political beliefs, ACLU Supporter. No person should be robbed of their first moments with their family because of their advocacy.
Our fight won't end until Mahmoud Khalil is free.

P.S. Help reunite Mahmoud Khalil with his family– tell ICE director Todd Lyons to free him immediately. <[link removed]>
