Good afternoon Housing Not Handcuffs supporters,

We are less than a week away from our national webinar, Housing Not Handcuffs: How We Fight for Homes With Dignity a Year After Grants Pass. Please join us and our partners at People’s Action and VOCAL-US to hear from Congressperson Jayapal and individuals who have been impacted by anti-survival and anti-homeless laws over the past year and beyond.

As we approach the one-year anniversary since the Supreme Court made it easier for cities to arrest and ticket people for sleeping outside, more than 250 anti-homeless and anti-survival bills have been introduced across the country. These bills, like the massive budget cuts proposed by the White House and Congress, will make homelessness worse.

We need proven solutions like housing and healthcare, not handouts to billionaires and handcuffs for the poor.

Plan or attend a local action to mark this anniversary

Our friends at WRAP and VOCAL-US are hosting local actions across the country to mark the 1-year anniversary of the Grants Pass ruling. Stay tuned for details on how to participate in these events. If you’re interested in hosting your own action, please email me at [email protected].

A Win in Louisiana!

Just today, our partners in Louisiana beat a series of anti-survival, anti-homeless bills, including a cookie-cutter bill backed by billionaires at the Cicero Institute. This shows that when we fight, we win! Stay tuned for our state-by-state analysis of wins, losses, and new trends in our shared fight against laws that make it a crime to be homeless in the coming weeks.

In thanks,

Jesse Rabinowitz
