Calling for our elected officials to divest from the police and invest in our black and brown communities — and how you can get involved.

This weekend marks Juneteenth (June 19th), the day chattel slavery ended in the United States. The Union Army read the federal proclamation declaring that all slaves were freed in the last Confederate holding of Galveston, Texas on June 19th, 1865.

To honor this day, we are hosting this weekend's protests, with @icantbreathecha (on Instagram) and Concerned Citizens for Justice, on the Six Nineteen platform at sixnineteen.com.

Six Nineteen is an initiative by Movement for Black Lives, the group behind the Black Lives Matter campaign, to empower this weekend's continued nationwide protests with new energy for defunding the police as well as the resignation of Donald Trump.
