Dear FAMMily,

Happy Father’s Day! As always, we’re celebrating fathers and children reunited in the past year because of reform and second chances. Fathers like Terrance Stanton, who is enjoying his first Father’s Day outside prison walls with his children in a very long time. His wife, Sagan, has been undaunted in her fight for Terrance’s second chance, coming to D.C. on several occasions, talking to lawmakers, and pushing hard for reform. FAMM has shared their story often over the years, and it’s so heartening to see where their journey has taken them.

Today, I’m thinking back on Father’s Days when my husband was incarcerated. Throughout the years, he worked so hard to be a great dad to our kids. Through cards, letters, visits, and calls, he was creative, determined, and deeply loving – never stingy with his sentiment, wisdom, and even silliness. And they felt it all. But still, Father’s Day would come around every year and it was a tough day.

Please join FAMM in watching a special video on YouTube, “Father’s Day: From Both Sides of the Fence,” premiering today at 6:30 p.m. EST (please register here to join). The film is a moving conversation about the impact of incarceration on families. At the premiere, you’ll have a chance to live-chat with FAMM staff and the people in the video.

We hope you find solace and hope this holiday. Please know that all of us here at FAMM will be thinking of fathers and children impacted by the criminal justice system and pushing even harder for justice and reform. We celebrate second chances granted, and we won’t stop working for more.

Happy Father’s Day,
