Protect our nation’s wild horses and burros from slaughter!

Friend—wild horses and burros are at risk of being sent to slaughter or of being outright killed and we need your help to stop it!

President Trump's recently released budget request attempts to remove longstanding protective language that prohibits the outright killing or sale for slaughter of wild horses and burros. For years we have advocated for the protection and humane control of our country’s wild horses and burros and because of our work, Congress has included language in annual appropriations bills to prevent the killing of wild horse and burro populations. But if Congress adopts the administration’s budget requests, all of those protections could be wiped out.

We can’t let that happen. Please act now and ask your members of Congress to ensure wild horses and burros are protected from being killed or sold to slaughter in the FY 2026 Interior Appropriations funding package.

For years, an adamant faction in western states has targeted wild horses and repeatedly sought to exterminate them, but we have been able to fight them off. Now tens of thousands of wild horses and burros are seriously threatened and we must do everything we can to protect them from being killed or sent to slaughter.

Our wild horses and burros deserve every chance to live out their lives wild and free. If population management requires interventions, we must do everything possible to ensure those actions are in the best interest of the animals. Please, tell your legislators to protect our nation's wild horses and burros!
