Celebrating economic development, Greater Fort Wayne Inc. held its annual
meeting and awards dinner Thursday night.
President and CEO of Greater Fort Wayne Inc., John Urbahns, highlighted the
economic development wins and vision for the future. It was a sold-out crowd of
nearly 600 community and business leaders gathered at the Parkview Mirro Center.
The evening began with a fireside chat with Indiana Gov. Mike Braun, who
shared his vision for Indiana’s growth. WANE 15 was able to speak with Gov.
Braun ahead of the event.
“Things are moving and shaking,” said Braun. “Whenever I come here, there is
always something going on, and the economy is healthy.”
Chief Economic Development Officer for Greater Fort Wayne Inc., Ellen Cutter
mentioned the record-high wage job commitments in Allen County during the event.
“Those 21 economic development projects that we worked on in 2024 represent an
average wage of about $74,000 a year, that is 18% higher than the county’s
existing average wage,” said Cutter. “Projects like Google, L3 Harris, Dreyer’s
ice cream, and so many others are helping to create new job opportunities in
the community, and continue to create opportunities for individuals and
families to build wealth and pursue what’s important to them.”
