Hello John,
Last week, the Supreme Court declined to hear Chabad v. Russian Federation , a long-running dispute over the return of sacred Jewish texts seized by the Russian government. Two justices recused themselves.
* Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson explained her recusal — as required .
* Justice Brett Kavanaugh ? He recused without explanation — again .
This matters. The Supreme Court has no binding ethics code, but it does have clear guidance: when justices step aside, they should explain why. Justice Jackson followed that guidance. Justice Kavanaugh, like too many of his conservative colleagues, simply ignored it.
At AFJ , we’re not letting this go unnoticed. We are demanding real accountability, judicial ethics reform, and a court that earns the public’s trust — not erodes it. But to hold this Court accountable, we need your support.

The Supreme Court is supposed to be the guardian of justice — not a shield for unaccountable power.
In solidarity,
The AFJ Team
