This year, blackberries join the Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce™ Dirty Dozen™ list of produce samples found to have the highest level of pesticide residues. Over 80% of blackberries tested positive for pesticide residues, and one sample contained 14 different pesticides. Learn more below.

Despite being on the Dirty Dozen, fruits and vegetables, including blackberries, are still an important part of a healthy diet.

Pesticides on blackberries - A total of 48 different pesticides were detected on all conventional blackberry samples. Over 80% of the samples tested contained two or more pesticides. Cypermethrin: Possible human carcinogen, found on over half of blackberry samples.

Potatoes – America’s most popular vegetable – joins this year’s Dirty Dozen™. That’s because a pesticide banned in Europe was found on 90% of samples, even after washing.
