A Word From the CEO
-------------------

Dear Reader,

Over the past two weeks, the United States has witnessed a surge in incidents related to violent extremism and foreign influence operations. In Los Angeles, anti-ICE protests escalated into violence, with rioters attacking LAPD headquarters, setting vehicles ablaze, and prompting the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops, reflecting deep tensions over immigration enforcement. Meanwhile, a series of targeted attacks and threats, including a firebombing at a pro-Israel rally in Colorado, a racially motivated stabbing by a Hells Angels member in San Diego, and antisemitic threats in Michigan, highlight the diverse and ongoing nature of extremist activities across the country.

Foreign influence operations have also intensified, with both Chinese and Iranian actors leveraging AI tools like ChatGPT to spread propaganda and manipulate public discourse. OpenAI disrupted multiple Chinese operations targeting U.S. politics, while an Iranian campaign pushed polarizing election-related content through fake news sites. Additionally, federal indictments revealed a Chinese plot to silence a U.S. dissident and smuggle military technology, illustrating the sophisticated and multifaceted nature of foreign interference. These events emphasize the urgent need for vigilance and coordinated responses to safeguard national security and public safety.

Sincerely,
