Let’s not sugarcoat what we’re seeing here: Donald Trump’s DHS thugs tackled Senator Alex Padilla, a current Senator from California, threw him to the ground, and handcuffed him.

This is an authoritarian attempt to silence the opposition – plain and simple. AKA this is what a police state looks like.

If they’ll do this with a US Senator, in front of LIVE cameras, it is safe to assume they’ll do it to anyone. What do you think they’ll do to immigrants in El Paso? To young protestors in Houston? To voters in Dallas trying to cast their ballot? To the children and families that they are raiding and detaining when no one is watching? Safe to assume the answers aren’t good, follow due process, or live up to our Democratic values.

Make no mistake: THIS is Trump’s America. Greg Abbott is complicit in it. Brutal. Authoritarian. Lawless.

And we have to fight back – right here in Texas. And right now.
