Dear Friend,

The Trump administration's official budget has been released, and I’m heartbroken to tell you that it’s just as bad as the draft leaked in April.

They are doing exactly what we feared: They are calling to eliminate all federal funding for LGBTQ+ youth suicide prevention.

They did it during Pride Month.

And they did it at a time when more LGBTQ+ young people are struggling than ever before.

I want you to know that this is a targeted attack on our kids’ lives. Funds for LGBTQ+ youth—who are already at greater risk for suicide than their peers—were the only funds cut from the federal suicide prevention program.

This leaves LGBTQ+ young people with one clear message: “Your lives are not worth saving.”

I know you believe in the strength and beauty of all our incredible young people. And I know you want them to live to see their bright, loving futures ahead.

We share that vision but we can’t make it a reality without your help, Friend…

That’s why I’m reaching out to you today.

In response to the uncertainty in Washington, The Trevor Project launched a bold, new effort—an Emergency Lifeline Campaign for LGBTQ+ Youth. With your generosity this Pride Month, we will raise enough money to ensure all our young people have the support and services they need to push through their darkest days and nights.

LGBTQ+ young people across the country are feeling isolated, scared, and hopeless about the future. As hostile language becomes more mainstream, they’re hearing louder messages of hate and rejection. Not just from peers and online bullies, but also from the people and systems meant to protect them.

We hear the damage done in the voices of the LGBTQ+ young people who reach out to us every hour of every day.

  • In fact, our most recent national survey reported that 90% of LGBTQ+ youth said recent politics was having a negative impact on their well-being.

That’s why it was so devastating to learn the administration is determined to eliminate federal funding for LGBTQ+ youth suicide prevention.

Those funds made it possible for Trevor to respond to half of the nearly 500,000 requests for help we received last year. Private donations from kind, caring people like you will ensure we can support all the young people that our federal government has left behind.

Your gift to Trevor’s Emergency Lifeline Campaign will help support hundreds of thousands of LGBTQ+ youth at greater risk of suicide without federal funding.

P.S. Friend, the Trump administration’s official budget calls to cut all funding for LGBTQ+ youth suicide prevention. As the budget makes its way through Congress, it becomes more and more likely that our funding will be eliminated. The only way we can continue to meet the needs of all LGBTQ+ young people needing support is to replace that money. Please help with a Pride gift to Trevor’s Emergency Lifeline Campaign today.

my life.” ~ Tyler (he/him)

If federal funding is eliminated for suicide prevention, LGBTQ+ young people like Tyler will be at greater risk for suicide.
