Friends,

Just minutes ago, the United States Supreme Court blocked the Trump administration from terminating the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

North Carolina was part of the coalition of states that sued the Trump Administration in order to protect DACA, which allows Dreamers -- the young people brought to this country as children -- to stay in the US legally.

I’m proud to have been a member of the team that defended DACA. The Dreamers want to help build and defend our country. Now, they can do so without fear of deportation.

In North Carolina alone, there are 27,000 Dreamers -- and nearly 1 million across the country. Among those protected by DACA are students and teachers, members of our armed forces, and nurses and doctors on the front lines fighting the coronavirus.

As I argued to the Supreme Court, this ruling makes clear that the Trump administration provided no adequate reason to justify ending the DACA program.

Let's celebrate this important victory today. And tomorrow let's wake up energized to keep fighting for justice.

Together,

Josh
