Here’s the plain truth: the actions we saw today are that of an authoritarian police state.

Patel and the Republicans who voted to confirm him aren’t there to advocate or protect the American people or our constitutional rights — they only demonstrate blind loyalty to Trump.

This week showed us it’s getting far more serious and deadly by the day, as Trump aims to ignore our laws to deploy active military troops to target our people on American soil without Congressional approval. That’s not how it works here in the U.S. — that’s what a monarch, or a dictator, does.

I have a reminder for Republicans: In the United States of America, we have no kings. We have no dictators. I’m committed to speaking the truth and standing up for Americans in my role in Congress and on the ground in PA as we work to win back the House.

That is why shortly after Speaker Johnson called for censuring Sen. Padilla, I tracked him down to make it clear it is on President Trump and his administration to bring the temperature down.
