The first few months of President Trump’s second term in office have brought unprecedented attacks on our union and our civil service. So much has happened that it can be hard to keep track of it all, and how union members have been standing up and winning despite all the challenges.
So, this month, we are presenting a special edition of the Government Standard that is a timeline of our ongoing fight to protect not only the dignity of our public servants but also the integrity of our democracy itself.

The Trump administration has waged a series of targeted and vicious attacks on the federal government – on the jobs and benefits held by 2 million civil servants, on the programs and services they deliver to Americans at home and communities in need across the globe, and on our fundamental concepts of democracy and due process.
Throughout this tumultuous period, AFGE has stood strong and has worked tirelessly with our allies across labor, civil rights, and advocacy communities. Together, we have mounted an unwavering defense – filing lawsuits to block illegal executive actions, mobilizing grassroots campaigns, and rallying public opinion in support of government workers and the essential services they provide.
We break it all down in this issue’s special four-part series, Chaos & Corruption.
In addition, we hear from President Kelley on what this time means for you and the work you do on behalf of the American public. Plus we make another pitch for all of our members to join AFGE E-Dues, which is the only way we can protect our union from future attacks.
