First the Trump Administration unlawfully detains our neighbors, sending ICE to deport and rip families apart.
Then, they call in the National Guard against the Governor’s will to crack down on protestors in Los Angeles.
Now, they’re silencing anyone who questions them, like Senator Alex Padilla.
This is what authoritarianism looks like.
I stand in solidarity with people of good conscience peacefully protesting to protect their neighbors. I’m calling on the Trump Administration to respect the people’s right to organize. I’m fighting so that all immigrants can feel safe in the country they call home.

Back in 2020 Trump hesitated to deploy the National Guard when white supremacists were violently attacking our capitol. But now he is quick to deploy them against people protesting unlawful immigration raids.
The shame and the sham of it all.
The last time a President deployed the National Guard over objections from the state governor was when LBJ used the national guard to protect civil rights protestors in the 1960s. This is no coincidence. This is just another example of Trump’s using the federal government to abuse his power and silence the will of the people.
But the protests happening across the country affirm what I already know to be true: the power of the people will always be stronger than the people in power.
