In 2018, Sgt. Finnerty was newly promoted to a supervisory role in the MBTA
Transit Police in Boston.




That night, he was placed in charge of the overnight shift—a post that was
supposed to be staffed by two lieutenants.




Instead, they gave it to David with no notice and no formal training.




And that same night, an incident occurred.




A patrol officer—who Sgt. Finnerty didn’t know, wasn’t supervising, and wasn’t
even anywhere near—allegedly used excessive force during an arrest.




The scene was miles from Finnerty’s location. He didn’t see it. He wasn’t part
of it.

But when he learned about it, he did the right thing.




He flagged the incident. He referred it to his superior officer. He even
raised concerns about the arrest in writing.




He followed every rule, every protocol. He blew the whistle.




And for that—they came after him.




Rachel Rollins, a Soros-backed progressive District Attorney, indicted Sgt.
Finnerty for allegedly trying to cover up a crime he didn’t commit, didn’t
witness, and had already reported.




The charges were outrageous. But that didn’t matter.

They wanted a headline. A scalp. A message to every other cop in the system:
“Stay quiet or we’ll ruin you.”




Sgt. Finnerty refused to back down.

On the eve of trial, new exculpatory evidence came to light. DA Kevin Hayden,
who had replaced Rollins, publicly stated that Sgt. Finnerty was not the source
of the false information in question.




Hayden dismissed the charges completely.


Sgt. Finnerty had been telling the truth all along.




But the nightmare didn’t end.




Despite the state dropping all charges…


Despite the DA’s admission that the case couldn’t be proven…


Despite a full four-year ordeal of court battles, public humiliation, and
financial ruin…




The Biden Department of Justice swooped in and re-indicted him in federal
court.




Same core allegations. Different venue. Bigger hammer.




Why? Because Rollins—before resigning in disgrace for election interference
and potential Hatch Act violations—had allegedly tried to influence the local
DA’s race, even while overseeing investigations into officers at TPD.




Rollins had an agenda. And Sgt. Finnerty—who told the truth and stood in the
way—became her political target.




The DOJ picked up where she left off.




Now, Sgt. Finnerty has been convicted. And he’s staring down the possibility
of years behind bars.

This is a disgrace.




But we are not giving up.
