A few weeks ago, Donald Trump accepted a “gift” from the Qatari royal family — a luxury Boeing 747-8 jet he’s calling his new Air Force One .

Now, the U.S. Air Force says retrofitting this foreign-owned plane to be suitable to carry the president could cost hundreds of millions, if not over a billion in taxpayer dollars.

Let’s recap here:

* This plane was gifted to Trump by a foreign government that is currently negotiating billion-dollar weapons deals with the U.S.
* Trump has personally accepted it and may turn it over to his presidential library afterward.
* Retrofitting the jet will cost millions (or more) in taxpayer dollars that could be used for our schools, health care, or infrastructure.

This isn’t diplomacy. It’s a sky-high level of corruption. The good news? The Senate still has the power to stop this deal by blocking arms sales to foreign governments involved in Trump’s business entanglements.
