Dear John,

When I was asked who’s inspired me the most, I had an easy answer: my
kids.

I wake up every morning and think about the kind of future my kids will
have.

Unless we make housing affordable, my kids won’t be able to live in
California when they grow up. Without climate action, many of our
communities will not be livable for my kids and their peers. And without a
Governor who will stand up to Trump—or any wannabe dictator—my kids will
have fewer rights than I did at their age.

Running for office isn’t always easy. But when I think about the work I
can do to secure a better future for my kids and millions of California
children, I’m so inspired to do this work.

But I can’t do it without you.
