Friend,
Today, the U.S. Supreme Court sided with immigrant families and rejected the Trump administration’s unconstitutional attempt to end DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program.
This news means 700,000 immigrant youth can still find work, get a driver’s license, and live in the United States under the DACA program — but until Congress passes permanent protections for immigrant youth, we cannot rest.
Even after Donald Trump’s cruel efforts to end the DACA program, Republicans in Washington refused to pass legislation to protect DACA recipients and Dreamers. They have not just failed to act — they have fully enabled Donald Trump’s racist, xenophobic treatment of immigrants in the United States.
Act now: Send a message to your members of Congress and urge them to protect immigrant youth and their families.
DACA recipients belong here.
Thousands of DACA recipients are on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic as doctors, nurses, farmworkers, business owners, child care providers, grocery store workers, restaurant workers, and other essential roles. They’re doing their part — it’s time Congress does too.
Without immediate action by Congress to pass laws to protect immigrant youth, roughly 700,000 immigrant youth still lack long term safeguards against Trump’s inhumane deportation policies.
Write to Congress and tell them to take immediate action to protect DACA recipients permanently.
Thank you,
Ben Wessel
