John, we’re reaching out to you today because you’re the kind of Democrat who knows that the future of our democracy depends on a lot more than just the elections that get the most attention. State-level races and mid-cycle redistricting fights have a serious impact on how maps get drawn and how our system functions. We’re in an era of perpetual redistricting. It’s no longer the case that the maps only get refreshed every 10 years after the latest census. These fights are happening in states across the country every single year. Before the last election, Republicans successfully gerrymandered three congressional districts in their favor in North Carolina — and happened to capture the House majority by three seats. And this year in Ohio, Republicans are intent on drawing new maps that could tilt up to three MORE seats in their direction. That brings us to now. In the coming months, the balance of power will be decided in the Michigan State Senate, the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court, and the Virginia House of Delegates, where all 100 seats and the governor are up for election. These state-level races might not grab many national headlines. The average American certainly isn’t aware of the role they’ll play in the fight to protect democracy. But you’re someone who gets that the important work to fight for fairness is ongoing and happening right now.
Thank you for your help, NDR PAC
