Chinese National to Stand Trial for Leading Alleged Human Trafficking Ring

*LANSING *– Today, Jingyu Jin, a 45-year-old Chinese national, was bound over to stand trial in the 16th Circuit Court in Macomb County on six felony charges in connection to allegedly being the head of an international human trafficking ring involving commercial sex at illicit massage parlors in Detroit, St. Clair Shores, and Sterling Heights, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Jin was charged in December of 2024 with the following:

* Conducting a Criminal Enterprise, a 20-year felony;
* Conspiracy to Commit Conducting a Criminal Enterprise, a 20-year felony;
* Accepting Earnings from Prostitution, a 20-year felony;
* Transportation for the Purposes of Prostitution, a 20-year felony;
* Money Laundering, a 10-year felony; and
* Keeping a House of Prostitution, a 5-year felony.

“The disturbing reality is that human trafficking continues to exploit vulnerable people throughout our state,” Nessel said. “I am pleased that this case is now headed to trial, as it brings us closer to making it clear Michigan will not be a safe haven for the heinous trafficking trade.”

The alleged ring, among the largest ever uncovered in the State, was discovered following an investigation that began in the summer of 2024. In December of 2024, dozens of law enforcement officers executed search and arrest warrants throughout Wayne and Macomb Counties, liberating several women of Chinese and Korean origin from the alleged trafficking ring.

Jin will next appear in the 16th Circuit Court on June 23 at 1:30 p.m.
