Six months as a judge was enough to prove a deep misunderstanding of religious freedom.  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌        ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌        ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌        ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌        ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌        ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Friend,

I'm following up on my email about Judge Justin Walker with urgent news: The Senate is expected to vote today on Walker’s nomination to the powerful U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

Please join us in urging senators to vote NO on his nomination.

Walker has been a district court judge for only 6 months and has already shown an alarming misunderstanding of religious freedom – and a willingness to allow religious freedom to cause harm, particularly against LGBTQ people, women, and religious minorities.

This is our last chance to urge the Senate to vote NO on Walker’s nomination. Click here to send a message to your senators right away.

Thanks for all you do,

Subject: BREAKING: Judge Walker nomination will proceed

Friend – Today the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance Judge Justin Walker, Trump’s nominee for a position on the powerful U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. We are urging the Senate to oppose his nomination.

Senators: Vote NO on Judge Justin Walker!

Walker, who has been a district court judge for a mere 6 months with no significant trial or litigation experience before that, has shown an alarming misunderstanding of religious freedom.

Walker revealed his thoughts on religious freedom through a recent ruling in a case challenging a public health order put in place to protect people from COVID-19. His opinion made it clear that he thinks religious freedom includes a right to use religion to discriminate, particularly against LGBTQ people, women, and religious minorities.

Please join us in urging the Senate to vote NO on Walker’s confirmation.

Walker’s dangerous views of religious freedom and lack of regard for church-state separation would be devastating given this powerful lifetime appointment. And in this moment, perhaps more than ever before, we need judges who will defend the First Amendment, not trample it to advance a conservative political agenda.

Click here to urge your senators to vote NO on Walker’s nomination.

Thanks for taking action,

Maggie Garrett
