The Trump administration has rescinded guidance that reaffirmed hospitals' obligation to provide emergency abortion care to a pregnant patient in a medical crisis.
Trump is putting his extremist agenda ahead of our health and safety. But EMILYs List women are fighting back.
John,
Last week, the Trump administration revoked federal guidance protecting health care providers who perform emergency abortions.
Under the Biden administration, the Emergency Medicine Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) required hospitals to perform abortions when necessary to save a patient's life, regardless of existing abortion bans in that state.
The move by the Trump administration to remove guidance to protect pregnant people makes it clear that Republicans are on a crusade to eliminate abortion access, and they're happy to risk lives to do so.
Make no mistake, John: Republicans were never going to leave abortion up to the states. They want to ban abortion and they'll do anything — including endanger our lives — to reach their goal. Until Republicans are stripped of their power, they're going to continue their assault on our lives and freedoms.
And here at EMILYs List, we're dead-set on taking back that power for the pro-choice majority.
Our task is to get anti-choice extremists out of office everywhere, and we've endorsed 31 women this cycle (and counting!) who can accomplish just that.
