ASAN is accepting applications for our new Teighlor McGee Mini Grants Program [[link removed]] until July 31, 2025! This program has two different mini grants self-advocates can apply for: the Affiliates in Action Mini Grant and the Self-advocates Transforming Equitable Policy (STEP) Mini Grant.
We’re looking to give money to self-advocacy groups and individual self-advocates that are working to improve the lives of people with disabilities in their communities!
The kinds of projects we’re hoping to see include things like:
* Hill day visits to talk about disability policy.
* Easy Read and plain language translations of important information. For example, writing about disability and health care, or self-advocates’ rights.
* Teaching people about important policy topics. For example, giving a training about the HCBS Settings Rule to self-advocates.
* Coalition-building - Working with other groups to build your movement.
* Mutual aid projects - helping self-advocates in the community.
We are especially interested in project proposals which are led by these groups. Or, that support advocacy for these groups:
* Autistic people of color.
* Non-speaking autistic people (both full time and part time).
* Autistic people who are LGBTQ+ (LGBTQ+ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer. It also stands for other sexual orientations and gender identities that society treats unfairly.)
* Autistic people with intellectual disabilities.
Affiliates in Action and STEP have different qualifications. To learn more about these grant options and apply, please visit our website. [[link removed]]
