Chemical manufacturer Bayer is mired in lawsuits from people who allege they have been harmed by exposure to its flagship product, Roundup. The Cancer Gag Act would strip individuals of our right to sue when we allege pesticide companies have made us sick, while shielding a chemical company worth over $30 billion from accountability. It's despicable. Bayer is pushing similar Cancer Gag Act legislation in state legislatures all over the country. With the help of Food & Water Watch members like you, we’ve already defeated one bill in Iowa* and are fighting on multiple fronts in other states. Now, the federal version of this legislation, the Agricultural Uniformity Labeling Act, is expected to be reintroduced soon. We need to send a clear message to Congress that this bill must be dead on arrival — no member of congress should co-sponsor or otherwise support this bill. Demand that your members of congress fight to block the national Cancer Gag Act! When agrochemical giant Bayer bought Monsanto, the original maker of Roundup, it was no secret people were suing Monsanto over alleged harms from its products. By 2022, Bayer had spent over $11 billion settling more than 100,000 cancer lawsuits related to their Roundup product. The Cancer Gag Act would put the burden of paying for unjust health harms on the public. We can’t let that happen.
