Trump’s military parade in DC this Saturday and his illegal deployment of troops on US soil in LA is no show of strength. It’s rank fear dressed in camouflage.
Trump is not honoring our troops or our history. He is using them as props in a desperate attempt to project strength as his approval ratings drop to the lowest they have been since he lost the 2020 election.
Trump wants to pretend he is America’s king. But no one can be a king unless we bow.
We have to meet this moment, as a nation and a people bound by a common moral purpose. That’s why we’re joining our friend Steve Schmidt today to announce the start of the Save America Movement: a national committee whose mission is to lead a focused, disciplined, moral, expansive, and fierce opposition to MAGA & Trumpism across all 50 states.

Today, founding steering committee members Steve Schmidt and Bishop William J. Barber, II announced the formation of a national organizing committee – the Save America Movement, whose mission is to lead a focused, disciplined, moral, expansive and fierce opposition to MAGA & Trumpism across all 50 states.
To date, MAGA has decisively won the battle in the most important domain of politics: communications and engagement. The Trump Administration confidently floods the zone every day with boldfaced, often incoherent, lies - using the power of television, influencers, and technology to concoct a mesmerizing reality television show that the mainstream media just can’t quit.
And unfortunately for America, Democrats haven’t just been losing in this department; they haven’t even showed up to play - which has left the approximately 85% of Americans who did NOT vote for Trump (and probably a good amount who did) at the mercy of an unchecked tsunami of authoritarian actions that have brought our democracy to the precipice.
The Save America Movement is going to step into this breach - and in doing so, begin to shift the tide – step by step, action by action - starting today with our inaugural message. It is being targeted at United States soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines being forced to participate in Trump’s Kim Jong Un-style parade, as well as those deployed in Los Angeles.
The Save America Movement will confront Donald Trump and his lawless, unconstitutional and cruel presidency in the context of right and wrong, not left vs. right – and we will engage through actions on the airwaves, online, and on the ground, across all 50 states.
Our priority in everything we do and every action we take is IMPACT. Our central question:
Is this the highest and best use of every hour and every dollar to shift public consciousness against MAGA and deliver IMPACT that will slow, and ultimately stop, the MAGA agenda?
The Save America Movement steering and advisory committees include leaders from American legal, media, public lands, arts, and faith communities. They will help shape strategy, messaging, and activations. As noted, Steve Schmidt and Bishop William Barber are founding members of the Save America Movement.
We will share our actions in this forum and humbly ask for your feedback. We will not be perfect, but we are committed to constant learning.
