Like me, you’ve probably been watching the recent news reports with a mixture of frustration, anger, and sadness.
Across the country, ICE is descending upon our communities and rounding people up, thanks to the White House’s goal of deporting 3,000 people a day. And President Trump is taking steps to involve the National Guard and the Marines in immigration enforcement.
At the American Immigration Council, we know it’s not enough to just say that these actions are wrong. That’s why we are working tirelessly to protect the rights and freedoms of immigrants across the country.
We provide pro-bono legal representation for asylum seekers through our Immigration Justice Campaign.
We work in local communities to support immigrant and refugee integration through our Offices of New Americans.
We advocate against harmful bills that would dramatically increase the ICE budget, causing further harm to families and due process.
We litigate against unconstitutional policies.
We educate the public and policy makers, highlighting how U.S. cities, such as Los Angeles, benefit from having large immigrant populations.
But there is still so much to do, and we need your help to hold the line.
