Folks,
My friend Tim Kaine asked me to reach out, re-introduce myself, and share some old photos with you. Keep reading for one of my favorite photos with Tim… But first, I’m hoping you’ll consider splitting a contribution between my campaign and Tim Kaine to protect my seat and take back the Senate for Democrats. Like so many Americans, I grew up in a middle-class family and was lucky enough to attend good public schools. I have a vivid memory of being the Richard Nixon surrogate in my 8th grade class – yes I know, I’ve come a long way. I have my 8th grade history teacher, Jim Tyler, to thank for setting me on the path to being a Democrat.

Fast forward a few years, I became the first person in my family to graduate from college, made possible by working multiple jobs and taking out student loans. That’s something I’m incredibly proud of.
Before I became a U.S. Senator, I actually started out in business. I invested my entire life savings, a few thousand dollars, into my first venture… which failed in about 6 weeks, by the way. My second venture did a little better, lasting six months, but it wasn’t until my third try that things started to look up. I’m extremely proud to have founded what became one of Virginia’s leading tech companies.
It was actually that experience that got me into public service. I thought that everybody in this country ought to have the same kind of fair shot that I had. So, I ran for governor in Virginia, and won.

And if you can believe it, my good friend Tim Kaine (now my fellow Virginia senator) was my Lieutenant Governor.

After our four years in the governor’s office, Virginia was rated the best state for business, the best managed state, and the best state to receive a public education. But even then, I knew that my work to make sure that every family – no matter their background – has the same shot that I did, was far from over.
That’s when I ran for the United States Senate, and won.

In the Senate, I helped spearhead the largest infrastructure and public lands investments in half a century, worked to significantly expand Virginia’s domestic manufacturing, and have fought to lower health care costs across the Commonwealth.

But I have to tell you, in my time in the Senate – maybe in my time in politics – there has been nothing as challenging, as bizarre, and as holy sugar as the last 143 days of the second Trump administration.
This administration's corruption has made every American less safe. Trump is implementing tariffs causing prices to skyrocket for working families, refusing to fire Pete Hegseth even after he shared classified information on an unsecured platform, and backing the largest cuts to Medicaid in history to fund big tax giveaways for the wealthiest Americans.
I didn’t get into politics to let people like Trump and Elon dismantle our federal government and rebuild it for billionaires like themselves. I’m proud to lead the fight with Tim against this corrupt administration, but we can’t do it alone.
So I’m asking: can I count on you to split a contribution between Tim Kaine and my reelection campaign to protect my seat in the Senate and take back the Senate so we can keep up our work to hold this administration accountable and continue delivering for Virginia’s communities? The road ahead will not be easy, but I know, if we all stand up and speak out, we will fight back and win. [[link removed]]
