This month has been a whirlwind in the fight to protect the Boundary Waters — and we’ve secured some major victories. Thanks to intense advocacy in Washington, D.C., dangerous anti-Wilderness language was removed from the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” which would have opened the door to toxic copper mining in the watershed of America’s most visited Wilderness.

In Minnesota, the State legislative session just wrapped, and our team was on defense against multiple anti-Boundary Waters bills that would have weakened critical environmental protections. And we held the line.

But make no mistake — the fight is far from over. In fact just as we were celebrating these wins, late yesterday Secretaries of Agriculture and Interior announced via a callous and inaccurate Tweet that they will be overturning the hard won 20-year mining ban in the watershed of the Boundary Waters. They claim to have consulted with the people of Minnesota about the Boundary Waters when they clearly have not.
