Dear Friends,

Three years into the Trump Administration, the President has yet to restart the torture program. This is because of the hard-won success NRCAT secured in 2015, when Senators John McCain and Diane Feinstein led Congress to pass a new law mandating that the CIA follow humane guidelines when conducting interrogations. Despite our success, President Trump was elected in 2016 after campaigning on a pro-torture platform. NRCAT is working to ensure that the American public will firmly reject any future call to resume torture.

Help NRCAT cement opposition to torture in U.S. law and culture by contributing today.

During this Torture Awareness Month, NRCAT is encouraging people to watch The Report, a film depicting the brutal truth about the CIA's failed torture program and the years’ long battle to make the truth public.

By making a financial contribution to NRCAT today, you can help us advertise this film to people of faith and others around the country. Now, while many people are spending much of their time at home, is the perfect opportunity to help them learn the truth about torture and be spurred to action to end it once and for all.

The Report counters false depictions of torture - depictions that wrongly suggest that torture produces useful intelligence (it doesn't) or that it's something heroes do when confronted with a recalcitrant suspect (they don't). Your support today gives us the ability to share this message with the public through Facebook, legislative alerts, banner campaigns and local vigils. Together we can end torture forever.

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,

Matt Hawthorne
Policy Director

The Hollywood film The Report, starring Adam Driver and Annette Bening, tells the story of U.S. Senate staffer Dan Jones leading an investigation into the CIA's torture program. As Jones uncovers the truth – that torture was not only brutal and immoral, but also ineffective – the CIA works to prevent his findings from ever being made public.
