Dear Friends of The Living Church,

The Eucharist is the beating heart of the weekly rhythms of the Church’s worship, the perfect act of doxology to the holy and undivided Trinity, whom we will commemorate with special devotion this coming Sunday. As many of you know, I am a liturgical scholar by training and I have written extensively about the Church’s liturgical life at The Living Church ([link removed]) .

I am reaching out to let you know about two pieces that I published this week on our website:

The first is in the form of a letter to the bishops of the Episcopal Church titled, It’s Time to Retire Intinction ([link removed]) .

The second is in the form of Seven Theses for Healthy Eucharistic Practice ([link removed]) .

These essays arose from thinking through what we have learned in light of the many residual effects in our churches from the COVID-19 pandemic. I hope they will prompt rich thought and conversations about this key part of our common life and worship.
