There’s no sugarcoating it. Democrats face a tough map to take back the Senate next year:

Roll Call: “Senate Democrats need to break some streaks to win the majority”

NBC News: “Democrats face an uphill climb to take control of the chamber in the 2026 elections”

Saboto’s Crystal Ball: “Our Initial Senate Ratings: Republicans Start as Strong Favorites to Hold Majority”

With retirements in key battleground states – New Hampshire, Michigan, and Minnesota – and Republican incumbents defending only two battleground states, Democrats will need to hold every one of our current seats and flip traditional Republican strongholds to win the seats needed to take back the majority.

Not to mention, Republicans are not just preparing to hold their majority, they think they can expand it.

Tim Scott, chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, namechecked Virginia as an opportunity to net an additional Senate seat.

They are looking at the same data we’re looking at: Virginia shifted right in 2024, and with the right opponent, we could be a top battleground state again.

If we don’t show early, strong support for Mark Warner, Republicans could take an even closer look at Virginia.

That’s why our June fundraising numbers are so important. At the end of the month, we’ll file a public report with the FEC. Any signs of weakness, and we could see a Republican billionaire sweep in with a massive super PAC against us.
