Peaceful protestors – our neighbors, allies, and community members – took to the streets in L.A. to stand in defense of immigrant families and contributors. In response, they were met with militarized force and violence.

Once again, Trump and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller are using immigration as their excuse to turn our government into a weapon against our rights, our communities, and our freedoms. We’ve also seen members of our movement brutally detained for exercising their right to assemble.

It’s clear that this is not about public safety. This is about a power grab, and is what a hostile takeover of our country looks like.

Here’s how you can show up right now:

• Support local groups like CHIRLA, SEIU CA, and NDLON

• Defend immigrant families by attending a local immigrant rights event near you

• Defend our freedoms by attending a “No Kings Day" rally on June 14

While this moment is scary, we can begin to protect each other by showing up for each other. The fight for justice, dignity, and our freedoms will be won by communities refusing to back down and choosing solidarity over chaos and hate.
