Maintain Federal Accountability

In response to much of the current political discourse happening around public health in our country, I’d like to keep things simple here in terms of what we know about vaccines— they save lives, prevent illnesses and are SAFE, though it’s important to consult with your physician to consider what is best for you personally.

Above is contact information for our federal representatives, whose actions in Congress and in the White House directly impact public health. I encourage you to communicate your concerns directly to them, as well as to my office, so that I may also advocate for safety and sound decisions around best practices in healthcare.

My Bill Passed the House

I’m pleased to share that my bill, H.B. 1428, passed the House on Tuesday with bipartisan support (143-60). This bill will clarify the membership eligibility of PSERS for new non-public employees from state-related organizations, while simultaneously guaranteeing the continued eligibility of those presently in the program. Membership in PSERS should, and must, be reserved for those who are employees of the public employee pension program.

My bill now moves to the PA Senate for consideration. Check out more of my legislation here: https://tinyurl.com/WebsterLegislation

Additional Legislation

Here are a few more bills we passed in the PA House this week. Each of the bills now head to the PA Senate for consideration.

HB 1250 (Rep. Hanbidge) – Protecting Residents of Manufactured Home Communities

Passed the House: 144-59

Bill Memo: House Co-Sponsorship Memo 45162 Information; 2025-2026 Regular Session - PA House of Representatives

In many cases, residents of manufactured home communities don’t own the land their home sits on, leaving them vulnerable to financial exploitation and displacement when investors acquire the community. This bill ensures these homes remain affordable and a viable path to homeownership by clearly disclosing fees and confirming that increases in rent are both reasonable and truly justified.

HB 1460 (Rep. Borowski) – Protecting Pennsylvania Health & Facilities

Passed the House: 121-82

Bill Memo: House Co-Sponsorship Memo 44940 Information; 2025-2026 Regular Session - PA House of Representatives

HB 846 (Rep. Dawkins) – Prohibiting Split Rates & Providing for Custom Fabrication on Public Works Projects

Passed the House: 126-76

Bill Memo: House Co-Sponsorship Memo 45818 Information; 2025-2026 Regular Session - PA House of Representatives

West Norriton Pride Flag Raising

Over the weekend, I attended the West Norriton Pride Flag Raising along with state Senator Amanda Cappelletti, and I was glad to see such a great turnout. Throughout June, we’re celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and continuing our efforts to create a world that’s united and accepting of everyone.

In a show of support, Lower Providence Township Supervisor Terri Neufeglise also attended the ceremony, along with state Senator Amanda Cappelletti and Montgomery County Equality Caucus Member Morgan Selkirk. The Pride flag was raised by the West Norriton Township Commissioners Marty Miller, Peter Smock, Hal Halbert, Anne Pavone, and Roseanne Milazzo.

Make sure you scroll down to events to find out about more Pride events happening across Montgomery County this month.

June Observances

Flag Day – June 14

Flag Day is celebrated on June 14, commemorating the adoption of our beautiful stars and stripes in 1777. From its striking red and white stripes, 50 white stars and blue background, the symbol that is the American flag, unites us all and reminds us of our pledge to uphold the values, ideals and dreams that our nation was founded on.

Father’s Day – June 15

Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads and father figures out there!

Juneteenth – June 19

Next Thursday, June 19, we recognize Juneteenth. This day commemorates the end of slavery and the emancipation of enslaved peoples in Galveston, Texas in 1865, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It’s important that we not only remember our past, but also recommit our goal to learn from it in order to build a more equal and accepting world.

If you’re looking for local Juneteenth events, Montgomery County is hosting their fourth annual Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday, June 16, at 10 a.m. at the Montgomery County Courthouse.
