Dear John,

In a time of rapid information flow, where storytelling is a vital tool for understanding current events and shaping policy, clear and accurate communication has never been more important. That’s why we’re proud to welcome Misaal Irfan as our new Policy Communications Coordinator. In this role, Misaal will play a key part in amplifying MPAC’s policy work and initiatives, ensuring our community stays informed and engaged through compelling, truthful, and strategic messaging.

Misaal brings a strong background in research, advocacy, and policy analysis. She holds an MSc in Health and International Development from the London School of Economics and a BA in International Affairs and Public Health from The George Washington University. At the American Pakistan Foundation, she led the 2024 Get Out the Vote program, which focused on increasing civic engagement within the Pakistani American community. She has also held policy internships at the White House Gender Policy Council and the U.S. Senate, where she worked on issues including women’s economic security, reproductive health, Islamophobia, child care, and immigration.

Most recently, Misaal completed a Google Public Policy Fellowship with MPAC, where she led research for a comprehensive report on free speech and academic freedom at American universities. This report will be vital in assessing how universities have impacted students' and faculty members’ freedom of expression in light of recent pro-Palestine protests.

Please join us in welcoming Misaal to the MPAC team! We look forward to the work she will contribute to our mission of advancing justice, equity, and dignity for all.

In Service,

Haris Tarin
Vice President of Policy and Programming
